The Museum of Cycladic Art was founded in 1986 by Nicholas and Dolly Goulandris to house their private collection of Cycladic antiquities. Gradually, archaeological findings from Greece other than those from the Cyclades and Cyprus were added to the collection as well. The permanent collection is placed in the building of Neophytou Douka, while the Stathatos Mansion hosts its temporary exhibitions. In recent years, this private museum has presented exhibitions of contemporary art, with the most notable one being the Ai Weiwei show in 2016. The museum shop and café are very popular with locals.
