The Museum of Aljube – Resistance and Freedom is located inside the former Aljube prison in Lisbon. From the late 1920s until the late 1960s, Aljube served as a prison for political prisoners during Portugal's military dictatorship. The Museum of Aljube tells the story of the prison and what happened there during this dark era. Exhibitions are spread between three floors and majority of their text is translated into English.
