A sacred museum for science buffs! Antique gadgets, interactive displays, demonstrations of how early scientists experimented with electricity, chemistry, electromagnetism... All of the most valuable scientific instruments from the Medici family. Galileo Museum is heir to five centuries of scientific collecting that began in the 16th century, when the Medici acknowledged the crucial role of science. In the museum you can also find an impressive experimental apparatus collected by the Lorraine dynasty (18th-19th century), which bear witness of the remarkable contribution of Tuscany and Italy to the progress of science. We highly recommend visiting the museum with a guided tour or with the audio guide, otherwise it would be difficult to appreciate the collection, since it is hard to guess how the devices work, what they mean and sometimes, what is the right angle to look at them.
