Founded in 1932, the Tev Aviv Museum of Art includes a variety of works from international and Israeli artists. Modern art displayed includes works by Picasso, Klimt, Cezanne, and an original mural made for the museum by pop artist Roy Lichtenstein. Besides international modern and contemporary art, the museum also includes European works from the Renaissance until the pre-Modern art period in its Department of Old Masters.

One unique aspect of the Tel Aviv Museum of Art is its collection of Israeli artwork. Artistic and social themes from the years before the modern state of Israel until present day are examined through rotating exhibitions and a contemporary Israeli artwork.
