Brazilian art is but one of the many highlights of the São Paulo Museum of Art; works from Classical antiquity, the Renaissance, the Baroque period, and numerous Western or Latin American artists make up the broad art collection. Because of this, the museum is considered the premiere art museum in Brazil. The museum’s modern look was the idea of Italian architect Lina Bo Bardi. Her architectural design causes the elevated structure stand out from the nearby buildings. Bright red concrete suspends the building above ground making the museum easy to spot among the neutral colored high rise buildings that surround it.
