MAXXI is the abbreviation for Museo nazionale delle arti del XXI secolo (National Museum of the 21st Century Arts). The museum, designed by famous architect Zaha Hadid, opened its doors in 2010. Two museum make up MAXXI: one focuses on art and the other on architecture. MAXXI’s art collection includes a large number of Italian works along with international ones as well; the architecture collection includes documents, prints, and photographs.
